The Nigeria international waited for two months and nine matches before getting off the mark in Italy
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has expressed his delight at scoring his first goal for Cremonese in the Italian Serie A.
Dessers netted his maiden strike in the Italian top flight when he guided the ball past Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret shortly after the break on Sunday evening.
The Nigerian forward’s goal cancelled Matteo Politano’s first-half penalty for the visitors.
But Simeone, Lozano, and Olivera struck late for Napoli to help the league leaders run out 4-1 winners at the Stadio Giovanni Zini in Cremona.
The defeat did little to overshadow Dessers’ happiness at finally getting off the mark in Italy as the former Heracles Almelo favourite took to Twitter to applaud the feat.
“First goal in Serie A, scoring under our curve was a great emotion. We continue to grow, to the next! Force Cremo,” Dessers wrote in Italian.

This season, before joining Cremonese, Dessers hit the target three times in three games for KRC Genk in the Belgian league.
A decent goalscorer on his day, Dessers has 36 goals to his name in the Eredivisie spread across 96 matches for Feyenoord, Heracles Almelo, and NAC Breda.
The 27-year-old also finished as the top scorer of the maiden edition of the Europa Conference League after managing ten goals in 13 games.
