The Super Eagles shot-stopper has been without a club since July, but it seems he would soon get back to manning the sticks
Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has signed a one-year deal with South African Premier League club Sekhukhune United according to reports.
Akpeyi has been without a club since he was released from Kaizer Chiefs in July. However, the 36-year-old shot-stopper revealed that he has been training alone whilst waiting for the best offer.
Well, reports from South Africa as per Soccer Laduma suggest that Akpeyi has sealed a transfer to Sekhukhune United, and could be unveiled next week.
If the deal goes through, it would be a return to familiar territory for the former Warri Wolves as he has spent the last seven years with South African teams- Chippa United and Kaizer Chiefs.
Still, Akpeyi would have to slug it out with Zambian goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata, and Ivory Coast’s Ali Bangare.
Sekhukhune are a lower-table side, as they have finished 11th in the league last season. They sit 14 on the table this season with six points after seven games.
