Nigerians abroad: Ighalo, Moffi, Ujah, Awoniyi rain goals in Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, England

Fantastic Friday it turned out to be for several Nigerian footballers who made their marks for their respective clubs

In the Saudi Arabian Pro League, two Super Eagles attackers, Anthony Nwakaeme and Odion Ighalo made it to the goalscorer’s charts in their matchday four fixtures.

Odion Ighalo netted Al Hilal’s second goal of the evening as the reigning champions cruised to a 3-0 home win over Al Wehda.

The goal was Ighalo’s third in four games this term, as the 33-year-old striker shows no signs of slowing down.

Last season, the former Watford man smashed in 24 goals to finish as the league’s top goalscorer.

Over at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, Anthony Nwakaeme grabbed an 87th-minute equaliser for Al Fehia in their 1-1 draw with their hosts Abha.

It was Nwakaeme’s first goal for Feiha since joining on a free transfer in the summer.

Nwakaeme won the Turkish Super League with Trabzonspor last term before his contract with the Black Sea Storms expired.

Eagles in Europe

In the French Ligue 1, Terem Moffi’s brilliant start to the season continued as he hit the target in Lorient’s convincing 3-0 victory at Auxerre.

Moffi’s goal, sandwiched between Ouattara’s opener and Le Fee’s second-half effort, is the Super Eagles star’s sixth strike in eight games.

The former Kortrijk ace managed only eight goals in 37 league matches last term. He is, however, on course to hit the 14-goal mark he struck in his debut campaign in France.

In Germany, Anthony Ujah was the architect of Eintracht Braunschweig’s second Bundesliga 2 win of the season in their 2-1 home win over Karlsruhe.

The former Union Berlin forward grabbed both goals for the hosts on either side of the half-time break and Wanitzek’s consolation for the visitors.

Signed on a free transfer last month, Ujah, who did not manage a league goal in the past two years, now boasts four in seven appearances for Braunschweig.

In the English Premier League, Taiwo Awoniyi marked his return to the Nottingham Forest starting lineup with his second goal for the Reds in their 3-2 defeat at home to Fulham.
