It has been an unfortunate injury period of late for Nigerian footballers, but one positive update pierces through the gloom and doom
Reading FC manager Paul Ince has provided a positive injury update concerning exciting Anglo-Nigerian playmaker Ovie Ejaria.
Ejaria has been sidelined by injury for several weeks, with the 24-year-old last featuring for Reading in the 2-1 win over Cardiff City on August 6.
But the Royals’ boss Ince reveals Ejaria is only two weeks away from a return to football action.
The former Manchester United midfielder expects the Super Eagles hopeful to be available for Reading’s home match against Huddersfield on October 1.
“In the next two weeks, we’ll probably have Ejaria back, Sarr back, Andy Carroll will be fitter, and Long we’ll have to wait and see,” Ince said (Get Reading). “Ejaria hopefully is back on the grass this week so hopefully by the time we get to Huddersfield, he’ll be part of the squad.”
Ejaria is not the only Nigerian footballer who suffered an injury in August and September.
Facing a lengthy spell on the treatment table are the Super Eagles duo of Jamilu Collins and Umar Sadiq.
Team captain Ahmed Musa, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Henry Onyekuru, Emmanuel Dennis, and Leon Balogun will all miss Nigeria’s friendly match with Algeria next week due to injury.
