The Grigiorossi had picked two consecutive draws and they looked to build on it when they welcomed Lazio, but it ended on a very bad note
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has blamed Cremonese’s 4-0 bashing against Lazio on his side’s inferior quality. But he believes that Grigiorossi soon pick up the pace and start winning games.
Cremonese have had a torrid start to the season, picking just two points from a possible 21. Prior to their home fixture against Lazio, the Grigiorossi had picked consecutive draws against Atalanta and Sassuolo, and they were looking to build on those results.
However, Cremonese were brought back to earth, as they were destroyed 4-0 by a rampant Lazio at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.
Dessers and compatriot David Okereke led the line for the Grigiorossi, but they were largely ineffective. Speaking after the loss, Dessers admitted that Lazio won because they paraded the better players.
“Playing against Lazio was difficult, they have qualities in players like Immobile and Milinkovic, and they were too strong for us.” Dessers said as per Napoli Magazine.
Recall that Dessers started the season in blistering form at Genk, scoring three goals in three games. Unfortunately for the former Utrecht man, since his €6.5million-transfer to Cremonese, he is yet to find the net after seven starts in Serie A.
Nonetheless, Dessers is not worried as he believes that he would break the dock soon enough.
“Being a striker, it is not easy to be on a barren streak. It is very difficult, but I do not want to continue like this.
“But I’m not just thinking about the goal, I’m also thinking about the team. I know that if I do my job for the team, the goals will come.” Dessers added.
