The English Premier League returned with all its glamour, and Super Eagles stars were involved for their sides

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi starred in Everton’s 1-1 draw at Brentford. Meanwhile, it was disappointment for Joe Aribo, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Wilfred Ndidi as they all suffered defeats with their sides.

Earlier in the week, the Super Eagles star was recognized for his brilliance as he made the Carabao Cup team of the round of 32. Iwobi continued with his impressive displays at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The promising youngster put the Toffees a goal ahead in the 24th minute, but Brentford pulled one back through Vitaly Janelt in the 84th minute to ensure it ended 1-1.

Iwobi was one of the best players on the pitch, registering 54 touches, a 93 percent pass accuracy, five successful duels, and a shot on target.

Elsewhere, it was disappointment for Aribo and his Southampton teammate, as, despite a good display, they lost to Manchester United 1-0.

The Saints were the better side on the afternoon, but the Red Devils just needed a moment of brilliance as Bruno Fernandes struck ten minutes after the break.

Aribo played 89 minutes and could have scored if not for David De Gea’s great reflex save. The former Rangers man won six of his twelve duels and had an 85 percent pass accuracy.

At Stamford Bridge, it was another tale of disappointment for Super Eagles stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, as Leicester City suffered a 2-1 loss to Chelsea.

Both Nigerian stars started the game from the bench. But manager Brendan Rodgers threw them into the mix in the second half after they fell two goals behind despite a one-man advantage.

Barnes pulled one back for the foxes but despite a late onslaught from Leicester City, Chelsea held out for a 2-1 victory.
