The Nigeria international’s deal to Italy is reportedly done and dusted, but a section of the Danish media believes it is all a ruse
Danish giants FC Copenhagen are not giving up hopes of signing Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers, despite the Genk star being reportedly close to a move to Italy.
Per reports from a section of the Italian media, Cremonese have a €6.5 million agreement with KRC Genk to transfer Dessers.
Belgian news outlet Voetbal Krant (via HBVL) also confirms that Dessers’ last game for the Limburgers is this weekend’s league clash against Eupen.
After which the Nigerian forward will jet to Italy to complete his move to Serie A new boys Cremonese.
Dessers already has three goals and an assist in just two league matches for Genk this term.
However, there are contrasting reports from Denmark regarding Dessers’ switch to Serie A.
Danish news site Ekstra Bladet (via Nordic Bet) claims reports that Dessers have a five-year deal with Cremonese are inaccurate.
Genk are being accused of having leaked the false story to the media in a bid to cause a bidding war between Copenhagen and Cremonese.
The Danes are, however, refusing to take the bait and are waiting on Dessers to make his decision on where he wants to go.
Dessers, last season’s Europa Conference League top scorer, has a tough decision on his hands.
FC Copenhagen offer the former Heracles Almelo forward UEFA Champions League football. Conversely, Cremonese present Dessers with the chance to play in the Italian Serie A, one of the world’s most-followed leagues.
