The pacy right-footed attacker has been impressive for the Red and whites since he joined in January this year, and Genk are looking to swoop in for him
Belgian club Genk are looking to swoop in for Nigerian forward Yira Sor from Slavia Prague this summer.
Sor’s career has experienced an exponential growth in the last three years. The lightning-fast 22-year-old was just an academy player three years ago, until Czech Republic side Banik Ostrava signed him in 2021.
However, just a year into his stay at the club, Sor’s displays turned heads. The Lagos-born forward scored four goals and assisted six in eight appearances for Banik Ostrava.
Czech giants Slavia Prague procured his services in February in a deal €1.2 million.
Sor has been on fire for his new employers since he joined, registering nine goals and three assists in 18 appearances.
Genk lost right-winger Junya Ito to Ligue 1 side Reims earlier this month. And according to nieuwsblad, the Limburgers have identified Sor as a suitable replacement and could test Slavia Prague’s resolve before the transfer window closes.
The Limburgers, have the funds to back a bid, as they have sold some of their top players. Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers already joined Cremonese earlier this week. Ito and Kristian Thorstvedt also left for a combined €20 million.
Sor is currently valued at €2.2billion(₦1billion) as per transfermarkt.
