The Hornets had three Nigerian players on their roster last season, and a new Premier League side seems to be following their footsteps
Newly-promoted Premier League club are closing in on Super Eagles and Nantes forward Moses Simon.
Moses had a great season with Nantes last season. The pacy and witty Nigerian forward was one of the best performers as the Yellow canaries went on a fairytale run in France.
The Super Eagles left-winger made 34 appearances last season, registering six goals and eight assists. He also played a big role in helping his side to a Coupe de France triumph.
Moses’ performances turned heads, and he was strongly linked with a move to Leeds United earlier in the transfer window. However, it amounted to naught.
Nonetheless, it appears that a move to the Premier League could still materialize, as GFFN as per Foot Mercato reports that Nottingham Forest could launch a bid soon after agreeing personal terms with the 27-year-old.
If the transfer goes through, Moses could be Forest’s third Nigerian signing of the summer, with Awoniyi already locked in and Dennis’ arrival set to be sealed in the coming days.
It would almost seem like Deja Vu, as Nottingham Forest’s squad would almost be reminiscent of relegated Watford who had three Nigerians (William Troost-Ekong, Emmanuel Dennis, Samuel Kalu) on their team last season.
And even more coincidental would be that Dennis was a part of the Watford squad.
However, most Nigerian fans and Forest faithful would hope that the club does not go down like Watford did last season.
