The Nigerian striker has been unsung for the Limburgers since the season kicked off, but it appears he may be on the move soon
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has stated that he is comfortable at Genk, but he is open to leaving the club if a good offer comes.
Dessers has been sterling for Genk since the season kicked off. The Nigerian star has been directly involved in four of his side’s five goals in the Jupiler League(three goals, one assist).
However, Dessers’ future at Cegeka has been in the balance for months, as since he returned from his impressive loan stint at Feyenoord, talks of a move away from Genk have echoed.
Dessers has been linked with Fiorentina, Cremonese, and Danish champions FC Copenhagen. Still, nothing concrete has come out of those talks.
However, the Genk hitman spoke about his future after his heroics against Standard Liege on Sunday.
“I’m really enjoying myself here, with this team and this coach (Wouter Vrancken), who makes a great impression on me,” Dessers said as per Voetbal Premieur.
“But yes, I am 27 years old, I still have two years on my contract. Maybe now is the time to take the step abroad. Although I don’t decide on that alone.”
The Super Eagles star has been spectacular in his first two league outings for Genk, and he has a €6 million price tag.
If Dessers continues with his impressive form, it would only be a little time before he gets snapped up by a bigger team.
