The Super Eagles striker has been a shadow of himself since he joined the Garnets, and they now consider him surplus to requirements
Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo has returned to Salernitana following the end of his poor loan spell at Serie B side Parma. However, Salernitana are not interested in retaining the Super Eagles star following his poor performance last season.
Simy was the toast of Serie A sides two seasons ago after he banged in 20 goals in 38 appearances for Crotone. However, his goals were not enough for Crotone as they suffered relegation that same season.
The Super Eagles star left Crotone initially on a loan deal to Salernitana. But after six months with the Garnets, they signed him permanently. Unfortunately, Simy suffered a poor run which saw him score once in 19 games, leaving the club in a precarious situation at the bottom of the Italian top flight.
Considered as surplus to requirements, the Super Eagles star was loaned out to Serie B strugglers Parma. But Simy’s shambolic displays continued as he found the net just once in twelve appearances.
Simy’s stay at Parma has ended, and he has returned to Salernitana. However, Tuttosalernitana reports that the Super Eagles star does not have a future at the club, and Salernitana are willing to listen to offers for the 30-year-old.
Parma would likely not be interested in getting Simy’s services again after his poor performance in his last stint at the club. Nonetheless, it is expected that the Super Eagles star would remain in Italy, as he has spent the previous six years in the country.
