The Super Eagles star’s future has been in the balance for months, but he could soon see an end to the bickering surrounding his next move
Super Eagles star Anthony Nwakaeme has reportedly agreed on terms with Trabzonspor and could sign a contract extension at the club very soon.
Nwakaeme’s future has been the subject of bickering for months, as he has been in a constant back and forth with Turkish champions-elect Trabzonspor.
The former Hapoel Beer Sheva star has made a name for himself at Trabzonspor since he joined seven years ago. Highly revered in Trabzon, Nwakaeme has scored 45 goals and assisted 40 in 143 appearances for the Black Sea Storm.
This season, he has reached a new peak, scoring eleven goals and assisting ten in 28 league appearances, helping Trabzonspor to their first league triumph in over 38 years.
However, the 33-year-old has been unsettled this season, as talks around his future have accompanied his brilliant displays. Nwakaeme’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he has failed to reach an agreement with Trabzonspor.
But now, both parties have reached an agreement as 61saat as per Fanatik reports that Nwakaeme’s manager Deniz Turker has given the green light for a deal to take place.
“We agreed with Trabzonspor on salary and year for Nwakaeme,” Turker said.
“There were only different ideas about the down payment. Nwakaeme wanted cash for the down payment. The club was willing to pay in installments.
“As of the moment, my player refused Trabzonspor’s request for payment in installments. He also agreed. Trabzonspor Management will go to the club whenever they want, and we will sign the new contract. We are ready.”
Nwakaeme will be a free agent at the end of June, so Trabzonspor has to move fast to keep the 33-year-old.
