The Super Falcons attacker was a substitute in Barcelona’s defeat of Wolfsburg women, as she featured in her first game in two months

Asisat Oshoala was a 73rd-minute substitute in Barcelona’s 5-1 whitewash of Wolfsburg in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League semifinal first leg.

The attacker came on as a substitute for one of the goalscorers, Jennifer Hermoso.

It was an important victory for the dominant Barcelona team as they defeated Wolfsburg for the first time in four meetings.

The Germans had become a bogey team of sort for the Spanish giants but with the recent strength shown by the Blaugrana, they made mincemeat of the former European champions.

A 3rd minute goal from Aitana Bonmati opened the floodgates as a Camp Nou attendance looked on.

Caroline Hansen doubled the advantage in the 10th minute with the hosts racing to an early lead.

Wolfsburg attempted a comeback but were soon pegged back in the 33rd-minute courtesy of Hermoso’s second of the evening.

Ballon D’Or winner Alexia Putellas scored the fourth of the night for European champions while Jil Roord pulled one back.

Putellas completed the rout 5 minutes to the end of regulation time.

In spite of Oshoala’s late introduction, she gave a good account of herself and had three shots on target in the game.

Barcelona have opened a strong advantage going into the second leg and are on course to win another European title.
