Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has offered a playful nod to the ongoing discussions around the team’s preparations ahead of the upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers, Soccernet.ng reports.

Multiple reports revealed that the reigning WAFCON champions will not be having a preparatory match ahead of the qualifiers.

The Super Falcons, reigning WAFCON champions, are facing serious preparation challenges ahead of the 2026 tournament, which doubles as qualifiers for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Zero Friendlies For Super Falcons: What Has Happened

Reports indicate the team will not begin proper preparations until February 2026, just days before the tournament kicks off in March.

Plans for friendly matches during the current international window have collapsed, with agreed opponents reportedly pulling out at the last minute.

According to journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, senior Super Falcons players—captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Rinsola Babajide—have privately expressed frustration over the lack of friendly matches.

In a tweet, Osasu stated:

“Get the message that @NGSuper_Falcons captain @Rasheedat08, @ashplumptre and @rinss98 are sending you, @thenff – they are NOT happy with the lack of friendlies. You are really messing WAFCON preparations up, due to your incompetence.”

Asisat Oshoala: Ex-Barcelona’s Cheeky Take

Adding a humorous spin to the tense situation, former Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala tweeted about her social media habits while subtly nodding to the WAFCON preparations:

Many insiders interpret her lighthearted post as a stylish dig at the lack of friendlies, which shows the squad’s frustrations without overtly criticising the NFF.
