What Boniface told Onyedika
The Werder Bremen striker reshared a clip of Onyedika cheering the Brugge supporters after making his return from injury.
Boniface added a playful caption on Instagram that read:
“Champions League next, you get lucky say Pedri get injury.”
With the Catalans already trailing Real Madrid in La Liga, the blow to one of their most influential players has intensified pressure on Hansi Flick’s side to respond.
Onyedika eager for Barca test
Onyedika recently returned to action after working closely with Club Brugge’s medical staff, and he has not hidden his excitement about facing Barcelona.
Speaking ahead of the match, the Super Eagles midfielder admitted the fixture will be a tough test but insists his side will approach it with belief.
“It’s clear to me that it won’t be an easy task again next Wednesday, but nevertheless, everyone here is looking forward to it, that’s a fact. We know what’s coming, but we can’t be afraid.” he said.
He also added:
“I worked very hard with the medical staff to return as soon as possible, and today (Saturday) I was able to make my comeback.”
Boniface enjoying the banter
Boniface’s light-hearted message is, as usual, perceived as friendly Nigerian banter to the build-up, and it was made in good spirits rather than disrespect.
While Boniface himself settles into life at Bremen with one assist in seven matches so far, he appears delighted to see his compatriot back on the pitch and gearing up for a marquee European night.
