Report: Arsenal and Newcastle ready ₦28billion for Super Eagles star

The Magpies and the Gunners are looking to reinforce their squad and are set to battle it out for one of Nigeria’s top players

Premier League clubs Arsenal and Newcastle are set to go head-head for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

The former Lille striker is one of the highly-rated young players in world football. Osimhen left Lille for Napoli in August 2020 after he scored 18 goals in 39 appearances for the former French Champions.

Although the Nigeria international has struggled to put up consistent performances for the Partenopei due to injury issues, he has proven to be a quality talisman whenever he is fit, with 19 goals for Napoli in 46 appearances.

According to Gazzetta. It Arsenal and Newcastle are set to submit ₦28billion bids for Osimhen as both sides look for reinforcements this January.

The Gunners are looking to replace former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and after their move for Dusan Vlahovic fell through, they have their sights set on Osimhen.

Also, the Magpies, who have money to spend under their new owners, are looking to add quality to their side in their bid to avoid relegation.

Nevertheless, Osimhen still has three years on his contract, and Napoli could still afford to hold on tight to their talisman.

  • Osimhen should stay away from those two useless clubs. Nigerian players (with Osimhen’s kind of rare talent) need to be aspiring to play for the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man City, Barca and Bayern, just to name a few. Napoli is a bigger club than both Newcastle and Arsenal combined and has a far richer history. This is an insult!

  • I beg to disagree Akinboyede calling Arsenal and Newcastle "useless clubs". Please I will him to address issues rather than using derogatory words. Currently Newcastle is the richest club in the world and Arsenal has massive rich history as a club in the world and is rated among the 15 richest club in the world.

  • I completely agree with Coker for Victor Osimhen to stay from Arsenal & new Castle for bigger clubs like Real Madrid Barca, Man city, Juve etc. I am not in anyway undermining the past records of Arsenal but for today Arsenal Mbanu!!!

  • akinboyede Coker. your faculty of thinking is too low. you called arsenal and Newcastle useless clubs.
