The former Ascoli manager has backed his Nigerian star to come good despite his unconvincing start to the new season
Salernitana manager Fabrizio Castori has stated that Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo needs to improve following his poor start to the season.
The 29-year-old was the sixth-best finisher in Serie A last season with 20 goals for Crotone. But since his move to the Estadio Arechi, he has struggled to replicate his Crotone form.
New boys Salernitana have had a poor start to the season and have taken one point from a possible 18. Simy has also not had enough time on the pitch, starting only two games this season, with his other four appearances were off the bench.
However, Castori added that he and his teammates would do their best to help their human regain his form.
“The boy is very serious. We are waiting for him because a group has the obligation to push those who have difficulties,” Castori told Napoli magazine.
“He knows well that he must improve. Together we will bring him back to his best conditions to allow him do what he knows.”
Simy would look to end his barren run and help Salernitana earn their first three points of the season when they welcome Genoa on Saturday.
