The Super Eagles striker suffered the disappointment of relegation with Crotone for the second time after they lost to Antonio Conte’s men on Saturday
Simy Nwankwo could not add to his 19 league goals as Crotone suffered relegation from the Italian Serie A for the second time in four years after they lost to champions-elect Inter Milan at the Stadio Ezio Scida.
The relegation has been coming for Serse Cosmi’s men after winning just five games all season and conceding a whopping 85 goals.
Crotone delayed their fate last week following a 4-3 win at Parma, but they were not lucky this time around as Inter edged closer to their first league title with a 2-0 victory.
However, they made the Nerazzurri work hard for the win as Antonio Conte’s men had to wait until the 69th minute to find the breakthrough, courtesy of a strike from Christian Eriksen.
Morocco international Achraf Hakimi then killed the little hope that Crotone had left as he slotted home a second in the added minute of the second.
Inter could now be crowned champions should Sassuolo fail to win. However, for Simy, he has a decision to make concerning his future.
The 28-year-old has already suffered relegation once with Crotone, but it is unlikely he would go down with them again with other Serie A clubs interested in his services.
