The Nigerian international was on fire last weekend, and that impressed one of the greatest strikers to ever play in the English top-flight
Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has included Kelechi Iheanacho in his Premier League team of the week following hat-trick heroics last weekend.
Iheanacho made history on Sunday after scoring three times in Leicester City’s 5-0 thrashing of Sheffield United at the King Power Stadium.
It was his first Premier League hat-trick. With his new achievement, he joins Efan Ekoku, Kanu Nwankwo, Peter Odemwingie and Yakubu Aiyegbeni as the only Nigerians to have scored a hat-trick in the English top-flight.
Iheanacho’s performance impressed Shearer, who is the Premier League’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals. The former England international put Iheanacho in his team of the week.
The Super Eagles star is part of a three-man attack that includes Erik Lamela and Dwight McNeil. Chelsea’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is Shearer’s pick in goal.
Ozan Kabak, James Tarkowski and Luke Shaw formed a three-man defence while Leandro Trossard, Emile Smith Rowe, Tyler Roberts and Ayoze Perez occupied the midfield.
