Nasarawa United continued their excellent start to the 2020-21 Nigeria Professional Football League season with a deserved come-from-behind 2-1 away victory over struggling Warri Wolves.
The Solid Miners momentarily moved above Rivers United to the top of the league table after their fourth win of the campaign.
Uche Ihuarulam got the game rolling for Wolves in the 21st minute, but Silas Nwankwo claimed the equaliser for the visitors shortly after the hour-mark before Chinedu Ohanachom’s 78th-minute effort secured the maximum points for United.
Another away victory was recorded at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where Sadeeq Yusuf’s brace helped Sunshine Stars knock out hosts Dakkada.
Yusuf opened the scoring for the visitors in the 12th-minute against the run of play and made it two-nil ten minutes after the interval.
Jesam Edet pulled one back for Dakkada in the 71st minute, but the home side could not muster the equaliser that would have seen them avoid a second league loss this term.
Nduka Pascal Eze was the hero at the Okigwe Township Stadium as his late strike helped Heartland force a 2-1 defeat down the throat of Akwa United.
Veteran striker Mfon Udoh smashed Akwa United in front shortly before the halftime break, but Samuel Nnoshiri’s penalty moments after the restart levelled proceedings for the home side.
Pascal Eze then popped up in the 80th minute to divert home the winning goal that momentarily lifts the Naze Millionaire out of the relegation zone.
