FA Cup: Unstoppable Ighalo Strikes Again As United March Past Ten-Man Norwich

Harry Maguire’s late effort helped Manchester United advance to the semifinals of the FA Cup after extra-time, with Cantwell’s second-half finish cancelling out Ighalo’s opener during normal time.

The Nigerian forward was at his goalscoring scoring best on Saturday evening, netting the opener for the Red Devils at Norwich as United extra-time to progress at Carrow Road.

Ighalo has scored in every game he has started for Manchester United since his shocking January transfer to the Old Trafford. And the on-loan Shanghai Shenhua striker was again on hand to blast home this game’s first shot on target to make it five goals in just four starts for United.

But United could not hold on for the win as the Yellows equalized to take the match into extra-time.

Chances were few and far between in the first half as Norwich defended in number, but shortly after the break, Ighalo got the breakthrough for the visitors. Shaw got into the penalty area and looped an off-balance cross onto the penalty spot.

A falling Mata did well to back down his man and get a touch to poke the ball through the line for Ighalo – who finished easily high into the net. 1-0 to the visitors.

The hosts, however, responded brilliantly to level the scores fifteen minutes later when Cantwell’s low, driven effort into the bottom-right corner from well outside the box caught Romero off-guard.

With a minute left of regulation time, the Canaries were reduced to ten men when Timm Klose brought down Ighalo with the United forward through on goal.

But Rashford could only smash the resultant free-kick into the well-organised wall, with the game petering out without a winner.

Extra-time was needed to separate the two teams at Carrow Road. And a combination of fine blocks and great goalkeeping saves kept the home side in the game until Harry Maguire scuffed in the winner just when penalties looked inevitable.
