Super Eagles star, Emmanuel Dennis, is now a league champion after it was decided that the 2019-2020 Jupiler Pro league season should end early due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Although the decision still needs to be approved by the Pro League board, there won’t be an issue as 17 clubs out of 24 have already voted that the season should be cancelled.
As a result, Club Brugge who are the leaders have been declared champions for this season. The Blauw-Zwart currently leads the table in the regular season, although they would have competed with other top six teams to determine the champion and spots for the European places.
But with the decision to end the season early, it means there won’t be a top-six playoff, and as a result, Club Brugge are now champions.
The Blauw-Zwart have Nigeria’s Dennis in their ranks, and he played a vital role in the team’s success this season. The 22-year-old scored nine goals and provided two assists for Blauw-Zwart this season.
His shining moment came when he scored a brace in Brugge’s 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu last September.
He was also on target in the Europa League clash against Manchester United in February. He has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund as a potential replacement for Jadon Sancho.
