Ighalo’s Loan Deal To End Early But United Ready To Pay ₦6.4B For His Permanent Stay

The Nigerian joined Manchester United from Shanghai Shenhua on a loan deal, but the contract is set to expire at the end of May.

Manchester United are prepared to pay ₦6.4bn to sign Odion Ighalo permanently with his current loan deal set to expire in two months.

The former Watford man joined Solskjaer's men on loan last January and has proved to be a big hit. Ighalo was signed as a temporary solution to United's striking woes.

But he has excelled so far with four goals in just eight games for the Red Devils. However, with the Premier League currently on a suspension until April 30 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, Ighalo will have just one month left by the time the league resume.

The loan deal he signed runs out by May 31, and with the league set to extend till June, United are willing to pay ₦6.4bn to sign him permanently.

According to the Dailymail, United are willing to speak with Shanghai over the option of extending the loan, but a permanent deal looks to be the likely option.

Shanghai have placed a ₦6.4bn tag on Ighalo, and United are ready to pay that amount since the Chinese club did not ask for a loan fee on the current deal.
