The 23-year-old has missed Leicester’s last two games due to a knee injury he has been battling since last month.
Ndidi went under the knife to tackle the knee issue, and he was expected to be out for a month. However, he made a quick comeback in the Foxes win over West Ham last month.
The Super Eagles star was also involved in Leicester’s Carabao Cup semi-final loss to Aston Villa last month. But it appears the return was rushed as Ndidi has missed his side’s subsequent games since the clash against Villa.
He has missed the Foxes last two top-flight fixtures against Chelsea and Wolves. It was believed he would make his return in the clash against Manchester City, but Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, has revealed his starman hasn’t recovered fully.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the clash against the champions, Rodgers revealed Ndidi is yet to join the team in training, but they are hopeful he will be able to do that next week.
“Wilf won’t be available for the weekend,” the Northern Irishman told Leicester City’s website. “He’s still in a process to try and get fit so we’ll see how he is next week. I’m not sure.
“He’s doing work inside, but you then have to progress that to outside and then when he can join the team. It’s another intensity to join the team and then to play.
Ndidi has been a big loss for Rodgers with Leicester winning just once in games the Nigeria international has missed since his injury problems began.
