Nigerians Abroad: Moses, Nwakaeme On Fire But Osimhen Fires Blank

Simon Moses scored Nantes’ only goal, but the hosts suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to PSG in a Ligue 1 tie played on Tuesday night.

The Super Eagles netted his fourth goal of the season, but it was not enough to help the Canaries halt their three-game losing streak against the champions.

Mauro Icardi put the Parisians ahead with half an hour gone, diverting Angel Di Maria’s sweeping shot past goalkeeper Denis Petric.

Thomas Tuchel’s men doubled their advantage shortly after the break when defender Thilo Kehrer headed home Di Maria’s pinpoint corner.

Nigeria International, Moses, reduced the deficit eleven minutes later, with an expertly taken finish past Keylor Navas. Simon intercepted Presnel Kimpembe’s attempt to flick the ball to Kehrer before firing past the Costa Rican.

The defeat leaves Nantes 10th on the league table with 32 points from 23 outings. They next take a trip to Stade Gaston-Gerard to face off with Dijon.

In another Ligue 1 tie, Lille managed to secure the narrowest of victories over Rennes at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen played every single minute of the encounter, but it was strike partner Loic Remy who scored the only goal of the game in the 4th minute.

Osimhen has found the back of the net 11 times in Ligue 1 in his debut season, and the former Royal Charleroi forward would be keen to add to that tally when Les Dogues do battle with Angers on Friday.

In the Turkish Cup, Anthony Nwakaeme continued his remarkable goalscoring run after the forgotten Super Eagles forward scored the third goal in Trabzonspor’s 5-0 humbling of Erzurum BB.

It was the Nigerian’s 10th strike in all competitions for Trabz and his fifth in his last five matches.
