The Super Eagles vice-captain believes a bright future awaits the Nigeria national football team with the quality of players present in the current squad.
Udinese defender William Troost-Ekong has praised the talents of the trio of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze and Lille’s Victor Osimhen, insisting that they have the qualities to raise the reputation of the Super Eagles.
Ndidi has been one of Leicester City’s key players this term, helping the Foxes to become one of the three best teams in the Premier League this season. Chukwueze continues to be linked with top clubs in Europe following his exploits with Villarreal. While Osimhen has confirmed his rating as a goal-machine with the former Royal Charleroi striker netting his 15th goal of the season for Lille last night at Gonfreville.
The talented stars are all in their early twenties, and Troost-Ekong is confident they can only get better with age.
“When you look at the Nigerian team, you will agree that it is a team for the future. We have great young players that when they eventually mature will do great exploit,” the 26-year-old defender told Soccernet.
“Wilfred Ndidi is someone that is already doing so well and I think he’s going to be a big name; hopefully, a household name within Africa.
“We have (Samuel) Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen. They are both doing well and ready to go to the next level. They are so important to their teams now and not yet at their peak. They are young and would go a long way in their career.
“We should be proud of these players. At home, we may not know how big their profile is, but if you live in Europe, you can imagine their good profile.”
