Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen found the back of the net in added time to lead Lille to a fine 2-0 win at Gonfreville on Saturday as the Ligue 1 side advance to the next phase of the Coupe de France.
The former Sporting Charleroi striker needed only half an hour on the pitch to register his 15th goal in all competitions this term.
Coach Christophe Galtier’s men found the going tough in the early stages at the Stade Océane as the National 3 side proved a difficult nut to crack for a Lille attack led by former Chelsea man, Loic Remy.
However, things took a different turn when Osimhen emerged from the bench on the hour mark as the visitors’ opener arrived minutes later off the boots of Remy.
And as the game entered its closing stages, Osimhen showed his predatory instincts yet again to outwit the home side’s defenders and doubled the visitors lead.
Meanwhile, in Italy, Nigeria youngster Bolaji Adekanye saw action for the last 30 minutes to help Lazio record a fantastic 5-1 victory over Sampdoria. A Ciro Immobile hat trick and another brace from Felipe Caicedo earned the hosts the win that takes them to within three points of Serie A leaders Juventus.
Exciting young forward Adekanye is yet to make a league start for Lazio with the 20-year-old Netherlands youth international’s three appearances coming from the bench.
