Oghenekaro Peter Etebo’s struggles at Stoke City is close to a positive conclusion after La Liga side Getafe agreed to sign the midfielder on a temporary deal.
Etebo has not played for the Potters since late October after falling out of favour with head coach Michael O’Neill who prefers the midfield trio of Joe Allen, Sam Clucas and James McClean.
It has, however, been confirmed that Getafe have completed the loan signing of the 24-year-old from Stoke City, bringing an end to a difficult last couple of months for the Nigerian international.
The deal that takes Etebo back to La Liga sees him join Los Azulones on a loan agreement until the end of the current campaign, while the Madrid-based club retain the option to sign him permanently.
It would be recalled that the Super Eagles star previously played in La Liga where he featured 14 times for Las Palmas in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign, although he was unable to prevent their relegation at the time.
Etebo joined Stoke in the summer of 2018 for €7.2m following a decent outing for Nigeria at that year’s World Cup.
However, the former Feirense ace has only started just eight league games this campaign and has now departed Stoke who are presently struggling in the English Championship.
