Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is in line to make his La Liga debut for the Azulones after coach Jose Bordalos revealed that the Nigerian star is coping well in training with his new teammates.
Etebo joined Getafe on a six-month loan deal from Sky Bet Championship club Stoke City and made his Getafe debut just days later in the Copa del Rey at Badalona. However, he could not help the Azulones avoid a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Segunda B side.
Despite the early setback, though, there are good signs that Etebo will not have issues settling down at the Madrid-based club with Getafe manager Jose Bordalos stating that the former Las Palmas star has adapted well to his new surroundings.
“He (Etebo) has trained well since the first day he arrived here. It is a good sign that his adaptation to the team is going well as planned,” Bordalos told a news conference on Thursday published on the Getafe official website.
Etebo will have another chance to impress when Getafe make the trip to Leganes on Friday. The hosts are likely going to parade two of Etebo’s international teammates in Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem.
Leganes may be neck-deep in the relegation battle – the Cucumber Growers are 19th on the table – but they are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions.
Getafe, who currently sit high up in seventh, are without in a win in their last two league games following defeats to Villarreal and Barcelona.
