Barcelona have decided against signing Palmeiras defender Yerry Mina in January.
Marca says the Colombian’s planned arrival is not set to happen until the end of the season.
Barca chiefs have rejected the prospect of completing the deal in January.
Ernesto Valverde currently has two options to back up main centre-backs Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti, namely Thomas Vermaelen and Javier Mascherano.
Both of these players have insecure futures at the Camp Nou but are not expected to leave until the summer.
However there is also the small matter of Barcelona’s deal with Mina’s current club Palmeiras for the Colombian, which is set at an already agreed 9 million euro fee for a July 2018 move.
