Barcelona squad vs Sevilla Spanish Super Cup 2nd leg
FC Barcelona name squad for Spanish Super Cup second leg tie vs Sevilla
FC Barcelona have announced the squad list for the second leg of their Spanish Super Cup game against Sevilla tonight at the Camp Nou and it features 18 players, with left back Jordi Alba returning to the team after being left out of the first leg squad due to lack of match fitness.
Following the injuries of club captain Andres Iniesta and Jeremy Mathieu, Luis Enrique now has an option to include two players who didn’t make the first leg squad and the players chosen are Jordi Alba and Sergi Samper. There was no space for Samper in the first leg squad but the player have been selected by Luis Enrique to feature in the deciding game tonight. The 21-year old midfielder has been linked with a loan move away from Barça and numerous clubs are interested in signing him.
Apart from Jeremy Mathieu and Andres Iniesta who are out through injuries, goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen is also sidelined for the game. This means Claudio Bravo will definitely start in between the sticks while Jordi Masip will accompany him to the game. It is very likely that this would be Bravo’s final game in Barcelona colours as the goalkeeper is linked with a move to Manchester City.
New signings Samuel Umtiti and Andre Gomes both made the squad and will be looking to make their official debuts in the game while the other two new names Lucas Digne and Denis Suarez are very likely to both start in their respective positions in place of Jordi Alba and Andres Iniesta respectively.
Barça are still searching for a fourth striker and the search continues. They are unable to sign their desired forward in time for the game and it means Munir El Haddadi stays put for the moment although Arda Turan is likely to start ahead of him alongside Messi and Suarez.
Neymar and Rafinha are representing Brazil in the 2016 Rio Olympic games and are not in Barcelona to make the squad while out-of-favour right back Douglas Pereira missed out as expected.
