FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with Brazilian club Palmeiras for the future transfer of promising Colombian defender Yerri Mina.
Yerri Mina, 21, is considered as the most promising central defender in South American football and Catalan publication SPORT have reported that Barça and Palmeiras have agreed a preferential deal that will see the Catalan Giant have first option to sign the player, a deal that will worth €9 million.
Yerri Mina is a technically gifted Centre Back who is also fast, the gigantic player who is 1.92m tall is also very strong in the air as his height helps him win aerial duels and the club’s coach has already praised his qualities saying “Mina has everything to become a world-class centre-back, without doubt he will pass through Palmeiras very quickly.”
According to SPORT, Barça initially wanted Mina for the B team but have insisted he continues in the Brasileirao to continue his development. The club are currently strengthening their central defence and they see Mina as a star of the future.
Mina represented Colombia in the just-concluded Copa America Centenario, featuring in two games. The player also made his debut for his new club Palmeiras on Monday in their 3-1 win over Sport Recife after joining from Indipendiente Santa Fe. His deal does not relate with FC Barcelona interest in another Palmeiras player, Gabriel Jesus.
