| Andre Gomes officially signs his Barça contract |
Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes is now officially a player of FC Barcelona after he was officially presented by the club after passing his medical.
The Catalan giants announced last week that the 22-year old will become their fourth signing of the summer and everything has now been made official after the player put pen to paper on Wednesday morning.
Barça signed Andre Gomes from Valencia for a fee of €35 million plus €20 million in variables. The midfielder signed a five year contract with the club that will see him be a Blaugrana until the summer of 2021 and there is a clause in his contract which stipulates that Valencia be paid €15 million if Gomes wins the Ballon d'Or in future.
Andre Gomes arrived in Barcelona on Tuesday and passed his medical before speaking to the press. He has been officially presented to the fans in the early hours of Wednesday and he arrived in all smiles, delighted and eager to start with his new club.
After landing in Barcelona, the player spoke to Barça TV and expressed his joy in joining FC Barcelona, saying it was the right decision. And he looks forward to help the team achieve success.
“I am happy. I hope to enjoy some great moments. I am convinced that it was a great decision to join Barça.
“My objective is to keep improving every day and to try to help the team. I am going to give everything to try to help inthe best way possible.
“There is nothing I can say that I can improve specifically (within the team), but I will try to help in everything.” [Quotes via SPORT]
Andre Gomes was questioned about the kind of player he thinks he is and he replied saying: “I am a very hard-working player, focused on everything to win.
“The objective is to win everything possible, that is the mentality of this club.
“I hope we can celebrate many things at the end of the season. My mentality is to win it all.”
Valencia officially announced the transfer of the player on their official website this morning in a public statement that reads:
“Valencia Football Club has signed this morning with FC Barcelona the transfer of Portuguese footballer André Gomes, having completed today, the medical examination the player and the subsequent heading of contracts.”
Andre Gomes played an integral part in helping his nation Portugal win the Euro 2016. He will return and start featuring for Barça in August 2016.
