Iheanacho scores but Dele Alli takes all the spoils

by Imhons Erons

in News

The former U-17 star scored his ninth goal of the season for
the former champions but it ultimately was not enough as Dele Alli helped
Tottenham claim all the points at the home of their title rivals.
In the super-duper game of the weekend, Manchester City
succumbed to a late Eriksen’s strike as
Spurs ran away with the maximum points at the Etihad.
Dele Alli started for the visitors but it was Harry Kane who
slammed home the game’s opening goal from the penalty spot after Raheem Sterling
was harshly adjudged by referee Mark Clattenburg to have handled Rose's
cross.
However it was another Nigerian who
would come off the bench to draw the game back on leveled terms.
Barely eight minutes after Kelechi
Iheanacho
was introduced into the encounter, the 19-year-old kept his composure
to calmly side-foot Gael Clichy‘s cross past a helpless Hugo Lloris with
16 minutes left of play.
However, it was birthday boy Eriksen – 24th
on match day – who had the last laugh, slotting home Erik Lamela‘s
pass to punish a lacklustre City defending on captain Vincent Kompany‘s return
from injury.
The victory pushes Spurs back to second
on the table, only above Arsenal on better goal difference, the Gunners having
beaten league leaders Leicester earlier in the afternoon.
