Polish side Lechia Gdańsk are locked in a fierce pursuit to secure the talents of dynamic Nigerian forward Abdulrahman Taiwo, Soccernet.ng understands.
Taiwo, who emerged as one of the finest goal scorers in Slovakia this season with an impressive 20 goals in 30 games, has emerged as a prime target for Lechia Gdańsk as they look to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign.
Reputable sports portal WP SportoweFakty reveals that it is Taiwo’s exceptional form that has spurred Lechia Gdańsk’s interest in the potential addition to their ranks.
However, they face stiff competition from rival clubs vying for the striker’s signature.
Determined to make a swift return to the top-tier Ekstraklasa following their recent relegation, Lechia Gdańsk recognizes Taiwo’s goal-scoring prowess as a crucial asset in achieving their objective.
Yet, securing the 24-year-old Nigerian star will not be a straightforward task.
During the recently concluded season, Taiwo thrived on loan at Spartak Trnava, finding the back of the net 19 times and contributing three assists in 27 appearances.
His standout performance in the Slovak league championship group, where he scored an impressive nine goals in only eight outings, played a vital role in Spartak Trnava’s third-place finish, securing qualification for the Europa Conference League.
The former Kwara United star was also key in helping Spartak Trnava win the Slovak Cup.
With his current contract belonging to Danish side Sonderyjskie, Taiwo’s future remains uncertain.
While Lechia Gdańsk are among the interested parties seeking his services, other notable teams, including Pogoń Szczecin, reigning Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava, and Sheriff Tiraspol, are also involved in the race. Spartak Trnava are equally eager to secure Taiwo’s return on a permanent deal.
Throughout his career, Taiwo has represented notable clubs such as Bursaspor, FCZ Brno, FC Nitra, Dunajska Streda, Karvina, and Zemplin Michalovce.
