Leicester City dropped to the second division of the English league following a dismal season campaign
Super Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi, has delivered an emotional message to the fans following Leicester City’s relegation from the English Premier League, soccernet.ng reports.
A week after Leicester City’s fate was decided, the former KRC Genk defensive midfielder expressed his sincerest apologies and deep regret for the team’s inability to meet expectations.
Despite a 2-1 win against West Ham United at the King Power Stadium, the Foxes’ awful season came to an end as they failed to secure their top-flight status.
The East Midlands had hoped to keep their top-flight position after drawing a 0-0 draw with Newcastle United, but Everton’s victory against Bournemouth confirmed their fate.
Ndidi expressed his regret and sadness at the decision in an emotional social media post, emphasised the importance of the fan’s constant support, and offered thanks for their dedication to the club.
“I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for the team’s relegation. Gutted that we couldn’t make it in the end. We understand how much you invested in supporting us throughout the season, and we deeply regret letting you down,” Ndidi wrote.
Furthermore, in the post, Ndidi acknowledged fans’ critical role, both emotionally and financially, and expressed his thanks for their ongoing support.
“Please know that your unwavering support is invaluable to us, and we are grateful for your loyalty to the club. Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” Ndidi added.
As the Foxes now prepare for a new chapter in the Championship league, the players and coaching staff will be aiming to bounce back stronger and regain their Premier League status in the upcoming seasons.
