Dessers had a disappointing season at Cremonese, and Rangers may be willing to hand him a way out
Former Scottish Premiership champions Rangers are looking to sign Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers from Cremonese next summer, Soccernet reports.
Dessers has had a campaign to forget since his switch from Genk to the newly-promoted Cremonese. The Grigiorossi have been abysmal this season, picking just four wins from 37 games in the Serie A.
The club already have already been relegated to the Serie B, as they currently sit 19th in the Italian top-flight.
Dessers has scored seven goals in 29 games for the Grigiorossi. Unfortunately, his goals have done little to help his side, as he looks set to for the second tier of Italian football.
However, he may soon get a lifeline. Football Scotland reports that Rangers are weighing up a move for Dessers. Michael Beale is looking to add some bite to his Gers attack, and Dessers is one of the options they are looking at.
Rangers already have a history with Nigerian players. Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey were two of their best players two seasons ago before they left for Southampton and Ajax respectively.
Cremonese would be looking to shed some financial weight as they return to Serie B, and if the Gers can produce a good offer, the Grigiorossi would yield.
