The Super Eagles defender had recently recovered from a head injury on international duty but had to be subbed off due to a broken nose on Saturday
Defender Kevin Akpoguma suffered another injury in TSG Hoffenheim’s 1-3 defeat at home to FC Cologne. The Nigerian had a broken nose in the encounter and was subbed off on 67 minutes.
Soccernet.ng reports that the 28-year-old had a swollen face after the game as he emerged from the dressing room with a plaster on his nose.
He was also randomly selected for doping testing after the game.
Akpoguma had suffered a scary head injury in March in Nigeria’s first of two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Guinea Bissau in Abuja. It caused him to be dropped for the second leg in Bissau.
However, he was soon back in action in the Bundesliga and has played four matches since his return from international duty.
How does a club like TSG Hoffenheim that’s based in a village of 3622 people manage to fill up its 30,000 capacity arena and wield so much influence on German football? #Bundesliga pic.twitter.com/eVx281VGCF

Akpoguma was a former Germany U20 national team captain and won the Walter Fritz medal as the best U18 player in Germany.
He opted to play for Nigeria after being convinced by former coach Gernot Rohr who handed him a Super Eagles debut in 2020.
Here is wishing the central defender all the best in his recovery process.
