The head coach of the Super Eagles is in Naples for the Diego Maradona Stadium matchup between Napoli and Atalanta
The Nigerian Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro, has highlighted a stark difference between his two attackers, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
The two Nigerian internationals have been scoring goals at a notable clip for their respective clubs in the Italian Serie A top division so far this season.
As the AFCON qualifiers draw near, soccernet previously revealed that the 62-year-old boss is in Naples to watch his star players in the Napoli and Atalanta match.
Due to Lookman’s goal-scoring slump, Osimhen, who has scored 19 goals in 21 games for the Parthenopean, has hindered Lookman’s target pursuit by outpacing him with 7 goals on the Serie A top scorer table.
Despite the dry spell, the former RB Leipzig player is still more technical on the pitch than the Neapolitan attacker, according to José Peseiro
“Ademola is more technical than Osimhen, more inclined to create the game, and who is now also scoring. He is performing very well this year.” he disclosed to SportItalia.
The former Sporting CB boss praises his progress under Gian Piero Gasperini’s tutelage and is certain that he will succeed in the league as his fellow countryman Osimhen is.
“He grew up with Gasperini: now he is always playing, and we are happy with him. high level, he too can aspire to do great things. I would add one thing that applies to both,” he added.
The Super Eagles manager observes that the two players are putting up a standout performance as a result of their club’s sound playing style.
“It’s no coincidence that they’ve both grown this year. This is because they’re both within a good system of play. Atalanta and Napoli want the ball, they want to play and attack. In these conditions, players get excited like this. Italian football has changed a lot in the last few years.” Says the former Venezuela head coach.
Both players are anticipated to be included in Jose Peseiro’s roster for Nigeria’s match against Guinea-Bissau on March 24.
