The Nigerian striker has been on a roll since he returned from injury, but he has reached a whole new high
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored his first Serie A hat trick in Napoli’s 4-0 demolition of Sassuolo.
Osimhen watched from the bench when his Napoli side defeated Rangers 3-0 in midweek. However, coach Luciano Spalletti gave the nod to the Nigerian hitman to lead the lines when the Partenopeans welcomed Sassuolo at the Diego Amando Maradona Stadium.
Spalletti’s decision yielded early fruits, as Osimhen showed great positioning, and fired home a pass from Georgian wonderkid Khvicha Kvaratshkelia to put Napoli ahead after just four minutes.
Napoli were not taking any prisoners on the afternoon, and they kept pushing more despite their early lead.
The Naples giants got their reward in the 19th minute, and it was the same combination for the first that produced the second.
Kvaratshkelia sent a perfectly weighted pass to Osimhen, who finished with aplomb from close range.
Minutes later, the Georgia international then took the law into his hands to score the third for Napoli nine minutes before the break.
Sassuolo looked more sturdy in the second half, but they could not deny Osimhen his hat trick.
The Nigerian showed great composure after he received the ball in the box, and lifted it over the goalkeeper to make it 4-0 to the Partenopeans.
It finished 4-0 in Naples, and the result further cements Napoli’s position at the summit often Serie A.
Osimhen’s hattrick was his first club career hattrick.
