Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has been ruled out of Nigeria’s clash against South Africa in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Johannesburg on November 17 and a friendly match against Uganda at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
Uzoho, who was in goal in Elche’s 5-1 loss to Cardiz in a Spanish second division league tie last weekend, has remained Nigeria’s number one goalie since dethroning Ikechukwu Ezenwa.
In a statement in the club twitter handle on Tuesday, it reads; “The tests carried out today in the Tesla clinic determine that the footballer Francis Uzoho presents a fracture of the seventh costal arch. Estimated time of Low: four weeks.”
Confirming the reports, the former U-17 goalkeeper stated on his twitter handle that he would be missing in action for four weeks.
“Injury is part of the game, definitely not the best timing but there are things beyond us. So sad I won’t be there for my teammates for the next 4 weeks they’re more than capable to get the job done coming back a beast.”
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has invited Enyimba international goalkeeper, Theophilus Afalokhai to replace the injured goalkeeper and he’s expected to team up with Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Chippa United of South Africa goalie Daniel Akpeyi for the games.
