The Manchester giants were heavily linked with the young Super Eagles talisman, but Napoli were unwilling to let him go
Former Premier League champions Manchester United could revive their interest in Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen during the winter transfer window.
After a brilliant campaign last season, Osimhen attracted the interest of some of Europe’s big boys. Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and Chelsea were all linked to the former Lille hitman.
However, astute Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis put a huge stumbling block in form of a €120million price tag for the 23-year-old. And that was enough to shoo away all potential suitors.
Osimhen started the season on a good note, scoring two goals in five Serie A games for the Partenopeans before he got injured. But the talks linking him to Manchester United have still not died down.
According to United Plug, the former English Champions would want to sign a striker in January, and Osimhen could be the target.
After a slow start to the season, Manchester United picked form, winning five of their last six games before the international break. Rashford has shown glimpses of his former self, scoring three goals in six league games.
However, he seems to be the only in-form striker at the club, with Cristiano Ronaldo struggling with the pace, and Martial constantly nursing injuries.
Osimhen would be a great addition to the side, especially with his pace and great finishing ability.
