Sunday Oliseh spent eight months as coach of the Super Eagles and had an impressive time but resigned barely eight months into the job owing to a lack of support and freedom from the NFF
Oliseh, however nursed the ambition of giving a current Super Eagles star the chance to play for the team as a teenager but couldn’t achieve his aim.
He’s notable for giving players like William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi their Super Eagles bow but the former Fortuna Sittard manager has revealed in the Athlst podcast that he also had plans to invite Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen, in 2015, had been a part of the U-17, finishing the competition with 10 goals, a record for the competition as the Golden Eaglets ruled the world.
Oliseh said the Napoli forward is a special player and one that can do even greater things in football.
“There’s one player at the moment now that I’d wanted to bring him in. In fact my P.A remembers that. I wanted to bring him in just before I resigned as coach of Super Eagles and I’m happy to see him now finally doing his thing.” When asked who the player is, Oliseh responded, “Osimhen.” Then continued with a statement following the point, “Nigeria’s Samuel Etoo,” raised by the interviewer.
“He can be better (than Etoo),” Oliseh retorted.
