The Nigerian forward added a league title to his cabinet last season, but it was a campaign to forget
Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray are closing on a move for Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru from Olympiakos.
Olympiakos paid Monaco €4.5million for Onyekuru’s services last summer. However, it was a largely disappointing campaign for the Super Eagles striker as he only played a peripheral role in their league triumph with the Legends.
Onyekuru featured in only 27 games in all competitions last season, notching a solitary goal and assist.
There were reports earlier that Olympiakos would be willing to let Onyekuru go this summer. Some top Turkish clubs were linked to him including Besiktas, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray.
However, according to Eno Sports, Galatasaray President Dursun Ozbek has concluded talks with Olympiakos, and the 22-time Super Lig champions are in pole position to land the Super Eagles star this summer.
Onyekuru already has good history with Galatasaray. He has had three different loan stints with the Cimbom, claiming a domestic double in the 2018/19 season.
He would look to pick the pieces of his career if the deal suffices.
