A tough Cypriot Cup final game saw versatile Super Eagles defender, Shehu Abdullahi pick up a red as early as the 5th minute.
His teammates however did the job as they held Ethnikos Achanas to a goalless draw before winning the tie on penalties.
An elated Abdullahi said it was an emotional night for him as his teammates sacrificed for him .
He hailed Omonia fans for their steadfastness and belief.
“It was an emotional night for me yesterday, a tough night it was,” he wrote on Twitter.
“The team spirit was unprecedented, and the fight was superb. Teammates fought for the badge and my sacrifice.
“The fans were unbroken, they chanted all night. That was awesome from the fans, support was massive.
“I am excited we finished the season on a high despite the League challenges.
“Our 15th Cup honours and the first since 2012. I am honoured to be part of this success.”
He further highlighted the success of the club since he moved there and hailed how they’ve managed to bounce back from a difficult phase.
“Since I arrived at Omonia, we have won three titles, played in Europe, and restored the club pedigree.
“This is for the Omonia fans for their unconditional love and support during the season, they believed in us and fought through the tough moments with us.”
Francis Uzoho was not involved in the finals but joined his teammates in celebrating the end to a decade’s wait for laurel.
