Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen notched one goal and one assist to lead Napoli to an incredible 6-1 demolition of Sassuolo.
The Partenopeans had to bounce back from their embarrassing defeat at Empoli last week, and they had to do it against mid-table Sassuolo. The visitors hadn’t done themselves good recently, as they had lost their previous two games.
Napoli started in grand style, as Kalidou Koulibaly rose highest to a corner from Lorenzo Insigne to head in, giving the Partenopeans a one-goal lead.
Before the Neroverdi could regain their feet, Osimhen struck in charismatic fashion with a bullet header behind Andrea Consigli to make it 2-0 in the 15th minute.
Osimhen turned provider two minutes later, as he played Hirving Lozano through on goal, and the Belgian promptly struck a wicked to score Napoli’s third.
Spalletti’s lads then wrapped up their first-half scoring in the 21st minute through Dries Mertens off an assist from Mario Rui.
Sassuolo looked stronger in the second half, but Napoli was just too hot to handle. Mertens struck his second of the game in the 54th minute after a fine assist from Mario Rui.
Osimhen was taken off in the 77th minute. Three minutes later, Rrahmani wrapped it up for the Partenopeans as he scored Napoli’s sixth of the game.
Maxine Lopez scored three minutes before giving the visitors a consolation goal.
