The Black Sea Storm have been the best team in Turkey in the first half of the season and have their Nigerian import to thank in no small part
Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme will be at Trabzonspor next season after the attacker reportedly agreed to extend his contract when it expires at the end of the season.
According to a report in Turkish publications, Milliyet quoting Fotomac, officials of Trabzonspor have met with Nwakaeme and his representatives and have decided to continue their partnership beyond the expiration of his present contract.
It is a big boost for Trabzonspor as they hunt for the Turkish league title. Nwakaeme has been the best player for the Black Sea Storm and easily the most offensive star in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Nigerian forward, considered a magician by a section of the Turkish media, has six goals and six assists in the Turkish top-flight. The 32-year-old’s 12-goal contribution is the highest of any footballer in the elite division.
Nwakaeme even showed his brilliance over the weekend when he scored a goal and made an assist in Trabzonspor’s 2-0 home win over Adana Demirspor.
In a league with Fatih Karagumruk’s Ahmed Musa, Sivasspor’s trio of Azuibike Okechukwu, Leke James, Olanrewaju Kayode, Goztepe’s Brown Ideye, and Alanyaspor’s Chidozie Awaziem, Nwakaeme is the leading Nigerian light by some distance.
Keep it up guy
