The Super Eagles received a surprise guest in their first training session ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone
Edo state deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, made a surprise appearance at the training camp of Nigeria’s national team in Benin.
The three-time African champions are preparing for the first of their doubleheader Afcon qualifier against Sierra Leone.
Nigeria host their West African rivals at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin on Friday, and they had their first training session on Monday evening. However, it was not the players that trained alone as they had Edo’s state deputy governor in their midst.
In a video shared on the team’s Twitter page, the players had a kick about with Edo’s number two man, who also urged the team to deliver a convincing performance on Friday.

It remains unclear why he is now part of the team, but he could be a replacement for Daniel Akpeyi, who is still yet to arrive at the team’s camp.
