Last month, former Super Eagles coach Keshi through his lawyers wrote the Nigerian Football Federation threatening to sue for wrongful dismissal and defamation. However the President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick has said that the letter is nothing to worry about.
In a recent interview with naij.com, when asked if Keshi’s letter was a distraction to the federation, Pinnick said, “It is not a distraction, it is just one of those things.”
“We have sent it to our legal committee and we have seen it accordingly and we don’t want to be drawn back and we are looking to stay focused.
“I am a sports administrator and I lead Nigerian football if your are running 100mtrs and once they say, on your mark, set go, you don’t tend to look back because, if you look back you will slow your race or you will fall and not get to your destination, rather we want to make Nigerians happy.”
Pinnick also talked about Nigeria’s slide in the FIFA rankings, saying it is a disturbing issue which he hopes will improve soon.
“Fall in FIFA rankings, naturally everyone will be disturbed because, the more you go down the less attractive you are and we are thinking of bouncing back and i hope when we beat Tanzania and Niger and it will help us and we will move up under our new coach and, my dream is to see Nigeria within the last 20 brackets which is of course achievable,” Pinnick said.
