Nigerian youngster Gold Omotayo has been rewarded with a one year contract at Bury FC after impressing Shakers boss Ryan Lowe during a recent trial.
Omotayo has been on trial with the club for the past two weeks and has featured in the recent pre-season friendlies against Rangers and Huddersfield Town, which has been enough for Ryan Lowe to offer the 24-year-old striker a one-year deal.
A confirmation statement by the club on its official website reads: “Bury Football Club are pleased to announce that Gold Omotayo has signed for the club.”
An excited Omotayo in an interview with the Shakers’ media team said: “I’m delighted to sign Gold. He’s a big presence, and we feel that he’s capable of cutting it in League Two.
“He’s what we’ve been looking for, he has a great attitude and is always looking to improve his game. He’s come over from Switzerland and shown us what he can do, and we believe in what he can offer.
“I’m really looking forward to working with him, and I’m sure he’s going to cause problems for a few defenders.”
The striker from Switzerland was recently at Whitehawk, where he scored 11 goals in 16 games.
